Immersion Therapy
This oil painting is my interpretation of the west side of San Juan Island.
The lighting is soft. The ocean is smooth and gentle.Rocks are immersed both in warm colors and the lapping water bathing them.
I was both intrigued and challenged by the rocks. Rocks in shallow ocean water are worn down. Their rough edges are rounded and smoothed by years of water wearing them down. They are partially in sandy water. Further down the beach the rocks are untouched by the sea. They are huge and angular.
I love the way the thin film of water on the sand reflects the peachy sunset colors.
