Peach Sky. Ocean. Ripples of water coming to shore. Boy, do I love this type of scene. both to paint and to experience in person. This is the west side of San Juan Island.
The lighting is soft. The ocean is smooth and gentle. Rocks are immersed in warm colors and the lapping water is bathing them. I was both intrigued and challenged by the rocks. Rocks in shallow ocean water are worn down. Their rough edges are rounded and smooth by years of wear. Further down the beach are huge boulders. Ragged and untouched by the sea.
